German Drop Cookies

I needed a quick and easy dessert for my monsters last night, after hauling my poor aching husband to the dentist. Yes, typical man, I have to beat him up to make him take care of himself. And, of course, since he only outweighs me by about 90 pounds, you can be certain he fears me. Indeed.

Anyway, I saw this recipe in the paper a while back, and decided to give it a whirl last night. After all, since they said "stir it with a spoon," a Kitchenaid would make this even faster and easier, right? Right. And it did. Without further ado,

GERMAN DROP COOKIES

1-3/4 cups flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup softened (not melted) butter
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup chopped pecans.

Stir it all together. Line cookie sheets with parchment paper, drop dough in balls on sheets, bake at 350F for 18 to 20 minutes. Let them cool on the sheets for at least 20 minutes, or they will crumble (wait! that will give you an excuse to sample them), and sift 1/2 cup confectioner's sugar mixed with 1/2 tsp cinnamon over the tops.

The recipe is supposed to make 5 dozen, but I doubled it and only got 6 dozen. This is what was left after the boys finished with them. They were easy enough that I might consider making them again, before the rest of the hungry horde returns and can demolish faster than I create them!

Mmmm. They look like they would melt in your mouth. Delicious.

Thanks for the tips on my dinner rolls for people who don't have a bread machine! I really appreciate it.

Anything covered in sugar is so for me especially with a black coffee.

Boy oh boy, your dentist is sure making a killing on your family this year! Hope your hubby is feeling better and doesn't have to go through what you did! Especially when there are cookies like these to be eaten! These sound so good, and you know I'd love that powdered sugar! YUM!
