I bought this the first year we were married. I was absolutely certain I could cook each and every thing in this cookbook, and my husband would be delighted. Well, I soon discovered that a man whose favorite treats are cranberry nut bread, brownies and pickled herring (true story) only needs a few cookies to keep him happy. Nonetheless, I pull this off the shelf every year, pore through its pages, and settle on just a few things to make.

I'm thinking about making the whipped cream cake (bottom of the page), and the cranberry filled one (top right). Maybe this year?

And this is the Spritz cookie recipe we use, with our Pampered Chef spritz cookie maker. But of late, the girls have been into rolling out sugar cookies, so....

I'm the same. I have some beautiful Christmas cook books and every year I think this is the year. Every year something comes up and it doesn't get done. Maybe I should strive for Christmas in July.
I love pouring over cookbooks but I keep making the same things over and over LOL especially at Christmas !
Having taken a close look at the pic, unless I'm very much mistaken, the candy cane cookies I make from my Mom's recipe are the same recipe as the one in your book - you oughta try them :-)

Those Ideal books have some of the best recipes, Marjie...I have a slew of them but, I don't think I have this one.
It's a funny thing, I no longer slaivate over recipes in holiday cookbooks like I once did. It isn't so much because we always go back to the tried and true, but more because I no longer cook for the holidays like I once did. Things are pretty quiet around here and any of the holiday baking I do is usually some cookies and perhaps a cake for Marion.
Cut-out cookies seem to be the rage these days but between you and me, I'll take a spritz of two any day.
I must say, that Whipped Cream Cake is mighty tempting. Go for it!

I don't have a Christmas cookbook, so thanks for sharing yours. Not a lot of holiday food prep happening here either, due to time constraints. I always make fudge and strawberry cupcakes, and the Knight always makes sausage balls and smoked salmon. This year, we're doing lasagna for my family's dinner though...
I do the same thing with my Christmas cookbooks! Then, I usually wind up making the same favorites all over again.:-) Whipped Cream Cake sounds very good!
pampered chef spritz cookie maker! i have one of those! i got it as a gift one year and i STILL haven't used it. better get on that, eh? :)
I just realized that I have over 50 cookbooks but no Christmas cookbooks. How could that be?
I think that coffee cake wreath would be a pain to make but oh so pretty!
