Danielle used to call them hairy nuts.
You had me laughing - we New Zealanders also refer to ourselves (and are referred to) as "Kiwis". Here the term is also used for the bird from whom the name came. The fruit is always "Kiwi fruit".
I think you'd struggle to one of me in the case :o)
