Garden Tuesday: What We Got for Christmas

Yes, that's a mailbox.

Big deal, you say.

Well, there has never been mail delivery in our little town. As of the end of the year, the next town over has opted to deliver our mail, so, for the first time in 20 years, I don't have to trudge my weary butt off to the post office to pick up my bills. That is a drag at any time, but just how fired up can you get over having to go out in the snow to get your electric bill?

And the snow you see there is all we have. Of course, we're being promised a "winter wallop" of up to 6" of snow tonight; let's see what it looks like tomorrow, OK?

Congratulations! How nice for you, I think you'll enjoy mail delivered right to your home :) It's a very nice mailbox :)

Marjie, congratulations, I think... because home mail delivery is not what it is cracked up to be. You still get lots of junk mail and those bills still arrive, maybe even a little faster.

But that is a fine looking mailbox & post!

Lovely mailbox and I know how excited you were to get one! I'm sure Chan would be happy to share some of her snow with you. :> g

Congratulations on home delivery. I got a new mailbox for Christmas a couple years ago, one of those tough Rubbermaid kind. I love it.

I must have missed something though I've gone back thru your posts. Have you been sick or did you get hurt?

Mail is almost obsolete.. If it wasn't for junk mail and bills, they would have nothing to deliver!

I have done both the end of the drive and the PO route... there are perks to both. That's a very pretty mailbox. And of course, we'd be happy to ship you some snow...

I had to go to a P.O. box growing up until I moved to the big city...now I just walk out my door, it's great. Love the new mailbox.

A magnificent mailbox.

Here is me complaining about trudging up 54 steps to empty mine when you've had to go to the next town.

Love it! I like the little door handle as well as the color, plus that is a very fancy cedar post, as well. All the neighborhoods in my neck of the woods have metal gray cluster boxes ... not nearly as pretty as yours. Sometime I'll have to share with you some hilarious stories about when my hubby was a summer fill-in mailman while working his way through college -- let's just say there are some folks who literally lie in wait for their mail! He was also a stock boy at the drug store, but the stories from there aren't nearly as funny. Hope you get some good stuff in your mail and not just bills. So tell us ... since you wear dresses and heels year round ... will you be driving or walking to your mailbox? :-)

Yay for you!

I am still stuck in NYC but I fly out tomorrow afternoon.

I won't be driving in this crazy mess but I appreciate the warm welcome.

I am on the same row as Buddy, last one on the left.

Our mailbox just got taken out by the plow driver. Now I need to file a claim so they can pay for it :(
