The Pride of the Hudson Cruise

Did you all know I was lost? I didn't. But about 2 weeks ago, I got several emails from high school friends, to whom I'd not spoken in the better part of 30+ years, declaring that they were glad they'd found me. Turns out I didn't go to the 30th class reunion. I didn't receive a notice about it, because someone decided I'd moved to Utah and changed my name. For the record, I've never stopped in Utah, and last traversed the state in about 1975. It just doesn't appeal to me. But at least I've been found! And here I am, with 4 of the 5 people who found me!
So, since these ladies wanted to get together, I found a lovely cruise on the Hudson River. For the one or 2 of you who are somewhere NYC, this is a beautiful afternoon journey, leaving from Newburgh, New York. If you've ever crossed the Hudson River on I-84, you've crossed the Newburgh Bridge. It's pretty long and high. It doesn't look as big from below.

This is Bannerman Island. It was built to be an arsenal for NYC, and the man who did so wanted his arsenal to be a castle. I'm thinking of taking the little boys for a cruise that includes a walking tour of this island. Don't you think boys would find this way too cool for words?

I think the captain said George Washington hung out here, but I've sort of forgotten. Nonetheless, it is a beautiful place.

The river's wide and beautiful.
There was even a tugboat moving a barge. I'd never have guessed!
And, of course, no tour of the Hudson is complete without seeing West Point. Their sentiments are clear, aren't they?
Hope you're all enjoying the end of your holiday weekend! We plan more burgers, more watermelon, more quiet interrupted only by fireworks. Thor will not be amused.

Beautiful pictures and of course places I have never seen so very interesting. Sure you had a great get together with your friends. 30 years is a long time, did you recognise each other? Please give Thor some ear plugs. Diane

Looks like a nice day, Marjie. And always fun to find old friends after 30 years, even if YOU weren't lost!!

Very interesting indeed! I didn't picture you so close to NYC and I had no idea where Westpoint was! Looks like a lot of fun.

Lovely! I like boat tours or whatever you call them, and the Hudson is so beautiful. Heck, I'd like a walking tour of the island, so I bet the younger boys would too!

I must be lost because I didn't get an invite to my reunion either....no cruise either but that might be a better opinion even if it meant going by myself;)

That looks like a lovely cool cruise to take on a super hot day. I can't wait to get out on the lake next week.

Congratulations on being found.

What a great place to spend time. Cruisin' down the river on a Sunday afternoon. Or any afternoon at all. Thanks for the views.
