Garden Tuesday: Cold and Windy

It has been raining and cold here since Saturday afternoon. My yard looks lush and verdant.

I'm going to have to cut back my first "crop" of chives, if it's ever not too windy out.
And this regrew from last year. I think it's arugula, but don't quote me on that. For the record, no one in my house liked arugula. It's just too bitter for us.

Another cake tomorrow, this one purporting to be from Cincinnati!

volunteers are good. Except when it's something you don't like. Arugula is bitter. We have brocolli and cauliflower planted already. that's all. g

We're similar getting weather here - it's raining and about 50 now. I need to mow my grass, but by time time it dries out, I may have to bale. it.

Everything does look very green after a week of rain. Rob couldn't stand it, he had to mow yesterday. He's in competition with our neighbor.

We could do with some rain here. All we have had in weeks was the small shower that arrived straight after we did the weed killer!! Your garden looks stunning. How large is it? Diane

It's cool here too, and my chives are going crazy too!

It all looks so green in spite of the wind!

Hooray for happy chives! I hope to get my garden started in May. All that's in there now is sage, rosemary, and chives. Oh, and also greek oregano. I thought I had yanked all the oregano out last fall, but there must have been a sprout I missed because it's looks like it's here to stay. I really can't wait to harvest lettuce again. I think that was my favorite crop last year.

10 Acres is quite big, no wonder you have a garden service. We are just under an acre and it is quite big enough for me to cope with on my own! After a farming life in South Africa though I have to say it seems quite small!! Diane

wish I lived nearby you and could come over and taste all your delicious cakes and get some more good advice and talks about our big dogs. Thanks Marjie.

Bitter volunteers. That could be the title of my post if I had time to compose one right now...

Hem. Love the lush green!
