Geology Dog

OK, so he wasn't really out there playing with rocks. But Ryan and Thor were learning about relative ages of rocks, using sections of sandwich to clarify the issue. (Calvert School has such great suggestions for fun in learning that even dogs want to join in!)

Mom made a triple decker sandwich with 2 fillings, and used a small biscuit cutter to make 3 cross sections of our "rock wall".

Thor didn't inspect his for long....

Before he just snagged it.
Happy Thorsday, everyone!

What a great idea for teaching. What kind of sandwhich was that? Thor didn't move his nose out of the way! Looks like it tasted good though. g

A rocky sandwich is mighty tasty.

How fun is that?! Maybe geology would have interested me if you'd been my teacher...

I agree! You should have taught geology to me too! Actually, it just goes to show that when a teacher can make something interesting, kids learn by accident and they don't forget what they've learned!

Calvert School sounds amazing. I see Thor is being a good student.

Thanks again for the recipe - my kids had so much fun making them! I think we will try cinnamon and sugar next time.

Thanks for visiting my blog! Yes, Bailey is quite proud of his Santa shirt.

Thor looks like he is more interested in "tasting" class than "science" class! LOL

What kind of food do you make for metamorphic rocks? I like this kind of learning :)
