Garden Tuesday: Concrete!

For the past few weeks, I've been on a home decorating kick.  Nothing major, mind you: lampshades (they get really ugly after 25 years), blankets, new sofas for the room Dan redid last fall.  Well, when driving home from the furniture store, my dearly beloved spotted a sign for concrete statues.  So we called them.  Turns out that right here in little old Scranton, PA, there's a fourth generation caster of concrete garden statues.  Of course, we had to buy some.  His prices are insanely good: $700 for all of this:

2 lions for the front porch, with 6" high bases:

This base, pedestal and urn:

My artsy daughter was here last weekend, after we dropped off Ryan, to keep us company, and she planted Catmint, "Jeepers Creepers" and something else, the name of which escapes me.

We'll check in again in a month or so to see if the plants grow or not.

Happy Garden Tuesday, everyone!

I'm really glad you're back. We also have a concrete place near us.I love wandering thru the place. It's hard to choose. I really like your lions and the flowers look perfect.

The catmint is from the land that time forgot....at least ours is. In our yard it has exploded (beautifully mind you) but I keep asking who planted all of this? It was just a little plant.

Beautiful stuff. Especially the lion stuff.

Tasteful. Unlike the mansion about a mile from me that has four Tibetan lions and a huge Buddha out front. Perfect color combo for that urn.

Hi Marjie!
I'm not "officially" back to bogging yet but I just had to leave a comment about your "find." Or should I say the hubby find. I too LOVE the lions!

That urn is perfect for the Catmint! Hope you enjoyed a bit of your visit in State College. I'm sure you're missing Ryan by now. Remember what I said:) And thanks for that tip. No backlash so far and I'm feeling better than EVER!!!

Great haul. Nothing like statuary to complete an estate.
