He ate, played, slept and was perfectly normal Sunday, until I went to bed at 5AM. Then he wouldn't get up for Dan on Monday around 9, so the boys rushed him to the emergency Vet.
He had an inflammatory disease, along with a fever; they also found elbow dysplaysia. He was on IV antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs. He started going downhill around midnight, and, just like that, it was over.
We are all brokenhearted, and poor Dan is devastated. Dan was Brutus' person, and we all knew it. I don't know how to comfort him.
Farewell, Baby Brutus. We only had you for 3 months, but you were loved, and you will be missed.

I loved that puppy. And I loved how your family loved that puppy.
Brutus spent three perfect months on earth, wish it could have been ever so much longer.
But he lived the best three months that any dog could ever live; three months of nothing but hugs and kisses and baths and baby photos and weighing and treats and toys.
It was a way too short a life, but all he knew of life was love. And there's comfort in that, I hope.

Oh my GOD!! I can't believe it! I was just starting to catch up with blog friends and saw this post - how awful! I just can't believe it!! I'm absolutely heartbroken for you - I can't imagine how you must all be feeling. Brutus was such a gorgeous puppy and although I've only known him for 3 short months, he's left a big hole already.

We haven't been online recently [we fear our mama may go the way of Baby Brutus, the way she's falling apart], so we just saw this terrible news. We are so very ,very sorry for your loss. All losses are painful, but the loss of a precious young life is just too cruel. We're sending slurps and head-butts to all your family, especially Dan.
