Monday Miscellany

It was a quiet weekend here; no snow (Katie is taking good care of it in Utah), little sewing, a little house cleaning, just a normal weekend.

I did rearrange my windowsill to better accomodate these pretty "measuring cups" my daughter bought me for Christmas. I couldn't bear to stuff them in a cupboard. And they look great next to the little blue teapot she bought me for my birthday a few years back.
In absurd news, do you remember these?

Ryan came home from High School with a notice that he can no longer use "My First Ticonderoga" pencils in school because they are dangerous. I'm not kidding. These pencils are dangerous to people ages 14 to 18. The smaller ones are not.
Happy Monday, everyone!

I've had to edit my comment because it simply wasn't polite. Good grief.

Those measuring cups are fabulous!

Yeah they are dangerous. I have a black spot in the middle of my hand, trying to prevent a stab~~~ and that was in 5th grade!!!

My oldest is ten and just started Calvert 6 w/ 7th grade Calvert Math and he still uses "My First" T pencils. The fatter pencils hold up better when traveling or being dropped from the kitchen table. All 3 boys enjoy Calvert and join in oneach others lessons.

Love the teapot and measuring cups.

Dangerous? All I know is they are the best pencils!

Your tea cups look so cute with your teapot!

OMGoodness - schools are actually teaching kids to be stupid, aren't they? Pencils are not dangerous to students - students are dangerous to students. What will they get rid of next?

Love your measuring cups. I've been slowing working on quilt blocks. I really want to make a new skirt with a huge pattern. But I hurt my back on Saturday and moving is still very painful. g

What are they going to do, stick them up their nose?

Your measuring cups are adorable. They do look great next to your blue teapot.

I just have to shake my head at all these absurd rules schools have these days.

Quiet weekends are very nice!

Hmmm, wonder where the comment went that I left yesterday. The internets are still a mystery to me.

Anyway, isn't it a miracle that we all survived to adulthood with all those dangerous things around... like pencils?

Ok, so now you all have us wondering -- what are they going to do with it? Poke an eye out, pierce an eardrum, eat it?

I miss my #2 pencil.

Hi Marjie, love your little measuring cups. Sounds like you had a lovely relaxing weekend.

Wonder why a fat pencil is more dangerous than a skinny one? Sounds like discrimination to me hehehe. No worries, and love, Carol (and Stella and Rory)
