Garden Tuesday: Deer

The deer wee all over the place on Christmas. Look at the herd of them! There were 7. And they were attacking some of my new trees. I was not amused. I drove my Suburban down the lawn honking the horn like a lunatic to chase them away. It's a wonder the neighbors didn't call the authorities to throw a net over me.

Anyway, here's hoping for a 2012 with fewer deer invading the garden!

I feel your pain Marjie! The deer totally wiped out my green beans out of the garden this year...I'm now plotting how I can outsmart them this year when I plant!

Grumble, grumble, gripe, gripe.

My deer have RUINED the boys' garden, worked on my magnolia, etc.

I feel your pain!

Most of us non hunters think in terms of those pretty little deer, but few realize how destructive they can be, especially when hungry. My WV cousins regularly have their shrubery eaten to the ground - apparently the deer love azaleas. We have lot's of deer around, but apparently enough other foood for them to leave our stuff alone.

Hi Marjie, we read Big Dude's comment about how destructive they can be so can sympathise with you about your new trees. They do look wonderful though. No worries, and love, Carol (and Stella and Rory)

I don't blame you. What a mess they cause to your gardens. Glad I don't have to deal with them. Happy New Year.

The neighbors probably thought you were welcoming the new year in some bizarre way.

Deer and rabbits are a real problem here, too. Our fence keeps the deer out, but the bunnies come right thru.
