Out With the Old, and In With.....

...the Ancient.

My electric kettle has decided that 100 to 120degrees fahrenheit is the perfect temperature for tea water. Sadly, my tea disagrees. So, I've ordered a new one. In the meantime, I'm using....

....purchased in 1977, this was a hot ticket for college bound kids. You could heat up water for tea, cocoa or instant coffee, cook less than 8 ounces of pasta, and cook soup or other canned foods. You couldn't beat it with a stick.

Sad to say, it's only 400 watts, so it takes like 10 minutes to heat the water for a cup of tea. Amazon, you'd better have UPS moving soon!

I have a whistling kettle, it does not use as much electricity sitting on the gas plate :-) Much more fun also ;-) Diane

So darling - they make these things called tea kettles and microwaves, I'm sure you've heard of them.

Hope your new kettle gets there soon. g

Hi All, now that's funny. We have an ancient kettle we received for a wedding present (tastefully orange). We keep it in the cupboard for emergencies like yours when the new one dies. It never lets us down. It just such a disgusting colour, but I suppose we are talking about the 80s he he he. No worries, love Carol and Stella

I used to have one of those, too. I could plug it in, take my shower and dress and it would be almost hot. When my whistling kettle died (don't ask) I finally bought an electric kettle. It's so fast. I love it.

I have an electric teakettle at school, so that I can have a nice cup of tea to pretend that I'm in a happy relaxing place!
