Chocolate Peanut Butter Cake

Well, this had to be a hit. I don't think the Reeses people were idiots when they came out with the peanut butter cups, after all, do you?

I was bored one night, and decided to alter a small chocolate cake recipe. This was the result, everyone liked it, and I'm sure you will, too!

CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER CAKE

1 cup flour
1 cup sugar

1/4 cup cocoa powder
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
2 tbsp melted butter
1/4 cup peanut butter

3/4 cup milk
1 egg

Stir together the dry ingredients. Add the remaining ingredients, and beat for 2 minutes until well combined. (Note: Spray your peanut butter measuring cup with oil or Pam so it will slide right out, or use the same cup you melt the butter in, after swirling the butter around to coat the sides well.) Pour into an 8"x8" or 7"x10" baking pan, and bake at 350F for 25 to 30 minutes. Let it cool, and ice with...

Peanut Butter Frosting

2 cups confectioners sugar
2 tbsp peanut butter
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
2 tbsp cream
milk to thin as needed

Beat the peanut butter with the confectioner's sugar, then add the vanilla
and cream. Beat until smooth. Add milk by the teaspoon to thin. Enough for one small cake

After his first bite, Patrick involuntarily exclaimed, "This is great!" From a 25 year old fussbudget? Need I say more? No? Then how about a demonstration of how much snow we had by the time the plow got stuck? Yes, that's Patrick's Dodge Ram pickup...you remember, the one Thor was driving at Christmastime!

That cake is the perfect answer for the wallop of snow ya'll received! Looks like your boys had plenty of inspiration for the snow cream I saw in the previous post. I think of porr Thor, it's no fun for him walking around in that cold.

that is a great cake - I would love a piece of that but not of the snow - we had 20 inches or so but its mostly been processed already in true NYC fashion.

Ahhhh... Mmmmm..... Yummmm.... I'm off to eat my egg and unbuttered toast now, because I will NOT let this longing for cake get the better of me.
(saving the recipe tho, because there is NOTHING better than chocolate and peanut butter together!)

I guess Patrick wasn't heading out anywhere that day. Good looking cake with a great recipe - and I'm not a peanut fan!

small but FULL of flavor (and calories). the frosting alone is enough to make me swoon. yeah, those folks at reese's did it right. :)

I'm so jealous of anyone who got to eat that cake. I am not, however, jealous of all that snow!

No wonder the cake was a hit, even with the picky guys! Looks beautiful, and peanut butter icing is just.... dangerous.

Yum! I wonder if I have everything to make it at home tonight? Will crunchy pb work?

Yesterday I bought a peanut butter, so I don't have any excuse not to make this cake :) I know also a one very interesting combination: Peanut butter and bananas! Make a mash from banana and mix with peanut butter. They said that Elvis Presley got on that way a lot of kilograms :)So, it's interesting, but take it easy...
