Garden Tuesday: Tomatoes and No Spinach

See my spinach? The row at the extreme left? Look carefully now.

Yes, all you see are stubs. The damn deer must have eaten them. Time to go to Agway for more deer and rabbit repellant. Rabbits don't show up on this side of the house. I think the deer didn't circulate the buffet notice to the rabbits' email inboxes.

But I have, according to my little guy's count, 89 tomatoes! Some are getting pretty big!

I figure these will be cherry tomatoes, the way they're clustered. But I might be surprised. I never know what's going on.

And, for a spot of color in your days, moss roses. They're not the prettiest variety of roses, but they can be counted on for voluminous blooms and riots of color.

Tomorrow I will write my mid-summer composition: "What I did with Swiss Chard." Argh! It's too early to think about school! Think ice cream!

Oh but I so want to know what you did with your swiss chard. I chopped mine and sauted it in olive oil and garlic. It was different . . . .

I have big red tomatoes already. g

I'm saying this with a smile, as politely as possible, but frankly my dear, I don't care what you did with your swiss chard. I don't like it.

We're having some luck with human hair clippings in the (flower) garden. There are little leaves popping out where formerly, there were only bare stalks.

What a bummer about your spinach. Can't wait to see what you do with all your tomatoes.

I got deer repellant- a .22 with a plastic milk jug duct taped over the muzzle- red neck silencer! Venison goes well with fresh garden veggies...

I've got my plants, most of them flowering and some tiny thumb nail sized tomatoes... Mother nature has been a bit tight with tha sunshine this year!
