Garden Tuesday

It's Tuesday here in my little corner of the world, and the sun is shining brightly! How much better can life get than that? (Other than maybe school being over for the year...and the remaining 3 kids being home, of course).

Here's the garden, with the little cherry tree between the beds. Maybe putting the beds on either side of the tree wasn't such a dandy idea, but sun hits that spot from 9AM until 7PM, when we're not living in the monsoon (like the past 11 days, and I was counting). You can see that my lawn is a riot of yellow dandelions, and the lawn service isn't due until day after tomorrow. Oh, well, some days go better than others. The big green sprouts are onions. Chives are 1" tall green hairs; carrots are sprouting, as well, and the radishes are doing their thing - you can count on them. I expect to plant more seeds this afternoon, perhaps, now that the rain has stopped.

Close up shots of the black seeded lettuce.

And our lilacs are in full bloom. Can you smell them through your computer? Why not? Don't you have the scratch and sniff monitor? These babies are 80 years old, and smell better than any perfume I've ever encountered.
Happy Garden Tuesday, everyone!

I want a pink dogwood - the darker pink -, a lilac and wysteria. The Knight doesn't seem to care.

We had a fast and hard squall last night too, and depending on which channel we're on, they're calling for rain Thu-Sun again!

Your garden is growing! Yeah! So glad that the rain didn't drown your seeds. I just adore that little gnome you've got there. I hope he is deterring all the little forest critters from turning your garden into their salad bar! Love that lilac bush! I bet it's heavenly whenever the wind blows through it!

I can smell them through here and now my nose is plugged and I can't breathe. JB and I are headed out of town this weekend again so our garden is another week before being planted. Can't wait for fresh lettuce. Yumm!

Oh I love (and miss) Lilacs! Yours look splendid. We had them in the house where I grew up in New Jersey, Brings back memories. I remember early May is perfect up there each year.

I love the look of lilacs, but they make me sneeze beyond belief... I had Matt chop out our bush this spring. :/
