Getting Some Christmas Spirit

On the heels of the news about El'bow, this ornament arrived in my mailbox today from Nichole.

I'm floored. Really, I am. This was a very thoughtful gesture, and one I will always appreciate.

So, we went Christmas tree shopping tonight. This ornament needed a place to live. We did not have our chief shopper, so it was rather a subdued affair. However, since only 5 of us were home, we were able to fit in the "little Cadillac" and ride comfortably to the farm (as opposed to last year, when 9 of us went in the Suburban, and Jeff lifted me into the truck because I can no longer climb. That was kind of funny, actually).

And this little one decided that my dearly beloved was her new friend. Sadly, since she wouldn't stand still, I didn't get one clear shot of her. But she made us laugh.

So, tomorrow, we'll be decorating - finally.

I have a very similar verse in the boys' garden. I'm glad the ornament wanted a place to live, and do know that photos of your chief shopper still make me mist up.

What an incredibly thoughtful gift, it will look so pretty on the tree.

I hope everyone had fun hanging the lights and garlick this year - I'm sure their superviser was watching from over the bridge. XXXXX Michelle

I guess the biggest problem with the big guys is that they don't stay with us very long. Their big hearts take so much out of them. I was blessed to have my last Saint last for nearly 15 years but I know that was a miracle. All we can do is give them all the love we have and make their time with us as beautiful as it can be.

You know, one of my favorite Twilight Zones involved an old mountain man who died hunting with his dog.

He first is tempted to go on the road to hell but they won't let him bring his dog. He won't go. When he arrives at the road to heaven they welcome him and the dog warmly ... because what would heaven be without them? My thoughts exactly.

Have a great holiday, Marjie.. I never see a mastiff without thinking of Thor.

Sigh. Maybe there will be a Thor Jr. under the tree.

What a perfect ornament... it brought a tear to my eye.

I know this will be a tough Christmas this year without Thor. Sending you love! xoxo

What a sweet and thoughtful gift. I haven't done a DOT post in awhile so I didn't know about Thor. I'm so sorry for your loss and know you will be missing him. He was a sweet dog to read about.

I'm so glad you loved the ornament... and so happy that you found THE tree for it. That photo of Thor taking charge is just precious... he was there this year.
