Last weekend was Dan's birthday. Shannon decorated his cake. You can tell, because her drawing skills are significantly better than mine. Yes, this is a Viking ship, sailing toward Eek the Mouse in his Hanukkah bowl (they live on our breakfast room table).
The girls had gone back to college; I talked Shannon into staying until Monday, so she could ride with me to Philly for fabric shopping with G-Marie (no pictures). So Dan had a small crowd at his birthday cake; I'm sure he didn't mind, since that left him with more extra birthday cake to enjoy!

What a fun cake. I bet he loved it! To answer your question about the cranberry one I made, the cranberries really weren't very tart once the cake had been baked. They were just tart enough to balance the sweetness of the cake. I'm making the cake again for a party tomorrow night. I can hardly wait!
Whoops, just realized that wasn't your question after all! Have a great night.
Cute cake! Happy birthday, Dan!
You're NOT a dumbass, and the story made me smile, so thanks! And Happy Birthday, Dan!
Happy Birthday Dan. Less people means more cake so hope you got a big slice. Have a great weekend. No worries, and love, Stella and Rory
Belated Happy Birthday, Dan!
That is a glorious looking cake, as is the stack of presents. Having Shannon and Jeff there (along with Mom, Dad, Ryan and Mark) must only have added to the happiness of your special day
I also wish Dan a belated Happy Birthday. That cake is such fun, I love it. Diane
Happy Belated young man!
