It's Been One Month

...and still I listen for the thump of the tail when I come downstairs.

And I'm sad when there's no one beside my chair while I'm reading.

But I'm happy that we had 10 wonderful years with our boy.

On another note, I was surprised at how many of you have multiple refrigerators! I was also amused by your comments on the arrangement of my fridges. But everything has to be just so around here. Oh, I don't care too much about dust, and I'd rather chat with my family than vacuum, but when I put things away, they must be where they must be. All boxes are turned the same way, all items of like kind together, spaces left when something is used, etc. Even the flatware in the dishwasher has a required order.

(These are my old refrigerators, the day after a food delivery).
I've been told I'm 2 or 3 degrees off plumb because of this.

So, I'd like you all to tell me something about your household. Tell me anything. How or even if you have things organized, what your "must do" and "must avoid" things are, anything! All of this because of a nice anonymous commenter who told me about her daughter and life in her house! You all are helping cheer me up on bad days, and I thank you.

Oh, Thor. We'll meet one day soon. I've never met a mastiff before! I'm sending special Gizmo snuggles and kisses to your mom.

I miss Thor too... I am sorry you are missing him but you were so very lucky to have loved him for 10 years.

I am a very neat and organized cook. I always clean as I go and rarely have dishes in the sink after I cook. I love, love, LOVE cooking and baking with my children, but you already knew that. :-)

Hi Marjie, there is nothing quite like the sound of a big tail bumping on the floor or wall for that matter. It took me a long while to come to terms with it. Now I can look forward to it once again.

Our fridges aren't as neat as yours but that's fine by me. The food doesn't stay there long anyway. The sad thing about our fridges is that they collect bits and pieces on top that I haven't got time to find a home for. Usually once every six months I have to give them a good clean up and then for a couple of days they stay clear on top. Have a good weekend.
No worries, and love, Carol (and Stella and Rory)

I'm still saddened by the loss of Thor as well.

Strange things I do - all the light switches HAVE to do the same way! All of them. g

I think we are all sad about the loss of Thor, he was certainly part of my life even if I did not hear the thump of tail on the floor. The memory may fade a little, but it will not be forgotten. I have had 3 very special dogs in my life and looking at photos can still bring tears to my eyes. Keep well Diane

Oh Marjie I can almost feel your longing and pain... so sorry for you.. I can easily imagine the lack of those small things he just did..

We have 2 fridges - one out in the garden shack with sodas, beer, juice, white wine etc, one in the kitchen with dairy products and every day food, vegetables etc. But not at all as neat as yours - I could only dream about that...

Thor! We are all missing you so much, but nobody more than your mom...

As for organizing our house. Sigh. I, too, like things lined up and just so, but, sadly, no space is left aligned for long. How often to I put the tupperware away ever so nicely only to have it exploding out of the drawers two days later and tops that seem to go missing. Curiously, somebody's barn has everything just so and woe be to anybody who borrows a hammer and puts it back on the wrong hook.

Oh, my missing Thor a lot toooo! I could only dream of your organizational skills, you are inspiring me! We need a new fridge, the ones they want us to buy are all too much for us, just give me a freezer on the top and nice shelves easy to clean & I will be happy, our old one is now 32 years young...I like to put things back the way I got them, My tupperware is in great shape because of that..also spices in a place they won't go rancid quickly and milk must be put in the back of the middle shelf to keep it fresh..I have some odd cabinets and I made them into better cabinets with those round thingies so I could get my stuff when I needed it (Pots & Pans) would love to remodel that is a dream, our old ceiling heating system is out and we are getting a good system and maybe new windows oh, I am whoppee skippee for that..take care I think of Thor a lot, I cannot believe it is a month..Keep your wonderful blog up and I am learning to be organized and to make yummee recipes..!!!!!!!!!!

I still miss my boys... and Thorsdays will never be boring old Thursdays again.

Our household... At the moment, it is overwhelmed by the clothing situation. What to have taken in, what to give away, and yet, I've had to buy new things that fit, and still have old friends to try on again and...

Oh gosh. We all miss Thor and want to cheer you up, but I've got thin stories to share from an organizational perspective.

Let me think about this one...

Today, at the grocery store, my husband was unloading the wagon while I indulged in my favorite thing, reading the National Enquirer. I don't buy it but I read it. I don't wrinkle or mess it up in any way and I would maybe buy it if it didn't cost a ridiculous amount. Ok. Enough of my rationalizing. While I read I heard some general humming and realized conversation was taking place between the woman in front of us and the cashier. They were both commenting on my husband's arrangement of the items we were purchasing. It had been years since I attempted to unload the basket if he were with me. He would just re-organize it. I NEVER put food away since, well, you know. Anyhow. I thought I would let you know that you have another member in your off-plumb corner and I think that corner is just a swell place. Just don't ask me to join you. I would mess it up.

HUGS to you.. xoxo.

And btw, we have 2 fridges too, however the 2nd is downstairs and used mostly for cold drinks, esp all summer long.

we still miss Thor terribly too !I can just imagine what it must be like – he must've been such a big presence around the house.

My God – I wish I had fridges like yours! We always spilling out of our little one, squeezing and squashing things anyhow on all the levels and having to share a freezer with Honey and Muesli's raw diet supplies!
