New Toy

Somehow, I ended up on the email list for Woot. They sell lots of great stuff, just not generally stuff I want. But about 10 days ago, they had something really weird: A Singer sewing machine and serger for $350. I let it go by, but I mentioned it to my dearly beloved as an oddity.

He immediately said that I should have bought the set, so I could have a second serger, thus having one loaded in white and another in black thread. He was insistent, so I ultimately ordered just a serger from a different web site. It arrived Friday.

I set the new serger up over the weekend, and took up looking for a project I wanted to take on. We got flu shots at the end of last weekend, so I spent the weekend feeling like whipped crap. I thought about sewing, and I have some ideas, but nothing concrete. But I'm blown away buy the fact that my dearly beloved wanted me to not have to fuss with the threading circus which is a serger.

Actually, I think it was his way of mourning Thor. He's trying to buy all of us more stuff to show how much he loves us. I do adore my man.

I think he's also trying to give you things that bring you a little happiness when the sadness of losing Thor gets too strong. Your man sound like an awesome guy!

Just don't let him come home with two adorable male rottweiler puppies who are litter mates - just to avoid grieving. It could prove to be a bad move... Just sayin'.

Nothing like a great man or a second serger.

Your husband is awesome. And hey, if you're still looking for new projects, some girls (not naming any names here) just adore cute aprons!

Maybe I did need a good cry because this put me over the edge. What a kind kind man.

It's hard to beat having a spouse you adore - I have one of those as well. I always wanted a serger - what's a serger/

Sounds to me like the hubby is thinking of your happiness and showing his love and caring.

He's not trying to replace anything, but just thinking of keeping you busy with something you really love!

Sounds like a keeper to me!

How lovely. Really. I have a sudden urge to send your husband a scroll saw.

My mother's serger is an "all bells and whistles" model - the only person who can successfully change the thread colour over is Dad. Thankfully mine is way easier

Your beloved is so very thoughtful, caring and kind, so incredibly loving.

Sending special huggles to you both, Michelle and Zebby (he adds zzzzzzzzzzzzz)

I have to admit that next time I bring mine out I will have to wrack my brain on how to thread it!!! I will be so happy when I have the space to leave it in one place and can use it regularly. You are lucky to have two. Diane

There's a book called Five Love Languages or some such (we had to read it in our pre-marital sessions) and there is a "language" of gifts. I immediately recognized my father, and the Knight has some such notions... he's just not the pure case study my father was.

I figure flu shots are over-rated if your going to suffer through it anyway;)

Wow, that's really nice and think of how much time and aggravation it will save you.
