Dump Cake

I'm dedicating this post to all of you out there who "can't" or "don't" bake.

Take this cake to your next pot luck, or bring it to the Labor Day picnic. It's easy. Plus, it's fun to say: "Would you like some Dump Cake?"

Heck, I'm even giving you pictorial directions here!

1 can blueberry pie filling
1 quart strawberries, sliced
1 box white cake mix

1 stick (1/4 lb or 8 tbsp) butter, melted

Dump the blueberry pie filling in the bottom of a 13"x9" cake pan. Spread it around.
Sprinkle most of the sliced strawberries on top of the pie filling.
Sprinkle the cake mix on top of the strawberries.
Pour the melted butter over the cake mix.
Bake at 350F for about 40 to 45 minutes.

Serve with whipped cream and the last of the sliced strawberries on each piece. My kids didn't let it sit long enough to get an actual picture of it "as served".

Wow, this is a nice variation of the "dump" cake we make. Ours calls for cherry pie filling, crushed pineapple, pecan, cake mix and butter. Your's looks just as yummy!

What could be easier! This looks like cake I might have seen at a church dinner or two in Tennessee.

Oh my God - maybe this is something even I - the most hopeless baker in the world - might be able to master!! :-)

I met dump cake at the firehouse. My shift commander would treat us to one once in while. Nothing like coming back to the station in the wee hours of the morning, sooty, sweaty and stinky, to the smell of a ____ dump cake, made with whatever he could find in the pantry.

something so purely decadent really shouldn't be allowed to be so easy to create. blueberries are an excellent choice for the foundation--it's a gorgeous cake!
