Garden Tuesday: Road Trip

My garden is currently soaked. It's been soaked since yesterday afternoon. So I thought I'd show you a few pictures from our road trip to West Virginia. Obviously, I'm not going to bore you with 700 miles' worth of pictures, but I thought some of you might like to see the scenery from our part of the world.

First up, this sign made me laugh. "Cheat Lake" and "Fairchance Road"? It's for real, and I may be the only one amused by this choice of names, but there you are.
Looking up the interstate in West Virginia. They cut through the rock so the road wouldn't be quite as steep. Aren't the colors wonderful?
This picture doesn't begin to show the depth of the hollows between the hills. But it tries.
This was a nice sign to see, although we still had 200 miles to go before we were home.
My little boys took this picture. Evidently, a giant paint can beside the road is highly amusing.

And at one point my daughter hung her sunglasses off the back of her head. Then she took up scolding the back seat, "Don't make me turn this car around! I will turn around right now!"

For the record, I never said anything like that. I prefer to drive all night, when they're asleep.

I love West Virginia! Even though I'm a Hoosier transplanted to Oregon, both of my sisters were born in West Virginia. I spent every summer there when I was a kid visiting my grandparents. Lots of great memories from there.

I love the road signs, though "Fatchance" lane would have been even more amusing!

I love the road sign and it was great to see some of the scenery having never been to your continent. I have a very dear friend in Dallas who would like me to visit but I can't see us ever making it there now.

There is still so much to see in Europe and travel is so much easier by car. Not that with the price of fuel here it is very cheap anymore!! Diane

What a beautiful area! Everything is so green and lush and yet with all that splendor, your little boys took photos of a giant paint can? Sounds like my kids when they were young. :)
I love looking at road signs and taking pictures, but the Old Guy has now forbidden me to do it... mainly because I make him pull over so I can get the perfect shot. ;)

We do the same thing with the babies--drive all night.

I really wanted to see West Virginia when I was housesitting in TN but there was just so much a person could do! There is so much to see in the South.

I've never been to your part of the country so I especially enjoyed seeing pictures from your road trip. I really love the second photo.

After growing up in the area, I never thought about those signs until you mentioned it :-).

GORGEOUS countryside. I've never been there but look forward to it someday. Thanks for sharing the pics. And I enjoyed the scolding from the back of her head. Must be practicing to be a mom. :) Ya gotta be able to see what's goin' on back there!

We enjoy the names on signs when we travel. We had a fun trip to West Virginia years ago. We rode an old train up a mountain.
