Worcestershire Roast Beef

I love roasting meats. You see, on a "small family" night, I cook about 3 pounds of meat, and "all of the family" nights require 5 to 6 pounds (boneless, of course). Yes, that's a lot of meat. And, yes, that's why you all have to cut my recipes down to normal sized. But you're here for the roast beef.

This was inspired by my wonderful purchase from Spicebarn.com in December. You can do some amazing things with powdered spices, and I do enjoy Worcestershire sauce. So, with that in mind, off I went to great flavor sensation!

WORCESTERSHIRE ROAST BEEF

1 small eye round roast (about 3 pounds)
1/4 cup salad oil
2 tbsp Worcestershire powder
2 tbsp dried minced onion or 1/4 cup fresh minced onion
10 turns fresh ground pepper

Mix the oil with the onion, pepper and Worcestershire powder, and let stand for about 5 minutes so the flavors meld together. Spread the oil mixture over all surfaces of the eye round roast and place in a small roasting pan. Add 1/4" water to the bottom of the pan, and roast according to your favorite method. I served this with pasta and corn, and there was very little left for lunch sandwiches the next day. (Fortunately for Thor, there was some pasta left over, and he likes it fine.)

Mmmm, yum. My son would love this. The boy does love his meat. I love how thin you slice it. For some reason, I love super-thin slices. Go figure?!

Any sign of grass there or are you still up to your elbows in snow?

I'm curious, how do you slice your roast beef so thinly. I love making roasts, but I can never seem to get it sliced thin enough to use for sandwiches and paninis. Do you have a special knife that you recommend?

I love roast beef! The worcestershire powder sounds interesting, is it like the sauce?

I made another loaf of the bread today (without lemon) to go with our soup tonight. Mmmmm. Love it!

I'm drooling - really. I'm also glad I didn't open this at home and have to try to shield poor Sis from the monitor.

Other than me needing to microwave that meat a little (I'm a medium to medium-well girl), that looks DELISH!!!!!!!!!

Now that's MY kind of roast beef! Mmmm! Unfortunatly, beef roasts are out of the question price-wise, because I would almost have to take out a second mortgage. Even lamb here, (one of our cheapest meats) is slated to go up to close to $50 a kilo (1 kg = 2.20462 lb
OR 2 lb and 3.27 oz) soon... due to drought and exports.
And do I eat lamb? No...
