Garden Tuesday: Signs of Spring

My Square Foot garden is a fright.

But the chives are peeking through the mess!
Unlike Chan, we didn't rake (or blow) the leaves from our crocuses. So we still have them. (For the record, the dead leaves will stay until the lawn service arrives to mulch them in late April. We don't use fertilizers and such here - just dead leaves).

Our magnolia has a bud or two; I'm still amazed that a Southern tree lives here (although it's still small, having only been planted two years ago).
And here are some more of those robins! They've left Sue's yard and come to mine, and I'm pleased to have them!

(We have a lawn service too, but the Boys' Garden is ours. Only Cherry Pie helps with that once in a while.)

I must stop and inspect Teddy Bear (my 40th birthday teddy bear magnolia) on my way in this afternoon. I sure hope he has a bud or three!

I am so happy to have spring finally arrive. It's sunny today and I can't wait to get the kids outside.

I guess I need to take photos of the crocus while I still can. I have lawn service too - it's called JB. He tells people he has maid service so why not?

Robins! Aren't they just beautiful?? Fingers crossed that the Old Guy gets to see some when we're home! He's still talking about the first squirrel he ever saw, so fingers crossed!

I leave the leaves too. They make excellent mulch!

That square foot garden of yours will shape up just fine Marjie. It is too bad about Chan's crocus. Yours look quite becoming:) I can't believe you have a magnolia tree!!! I've been hemming and hawing about getting one. You've convinced me to give at least one a try!!! I only hope I'm not too late.

I have news too!!! The doves are back!!! I'm delighted. I've been watching them everyday from my bedroom window. They've been diligently building the nest blade by blade. Wouldn't you know it, I just sent my movie camera to my daughter in Idaho so I don't have to carry it on the plane when I go in April. I've been taking photos though...

Have a wonderful garden Tuesday, Marjie!!!

It looks so different from a few weeks back. Are Mark and Ryan thinking about what to grow? With a few hints from their lovely Mom based on what you'd like to be eating!
