Less than 2 Weeks to Go...

...and I need to think hard about Thanksgiving.

3 of the kids arrive from college Thursday and Friday, because they have the next week off, my 2 sons from South Carolina arrive Monday or Tuesday (They aren't all that good at planning), and the law school daughter flies in Wednesday at midnight.

So, I'd better get my brain firmly into planning mode instead of my normal "build the day around *this meat*" modus operandi. Here's what's on the schedule for my little corner of the world for the next 7 nights:

Saturday (today):
Chicken Wing Soup
Crusty Cuban Bread (at the insistence of my dearly beloved)

Sunday:
Turkey Breast
Stuffing
Whole cranberry sauce
Green beans almondine
Babylonian Bread
Cottage cheese pie (Fannie Farmer, this had better be good!)

Monday:
Fish (create something new)
Rice (dream up something interesting)
salad (if Patrick gets ingredients)
Whole wheat Italian bread
buttermilk chocolate cake

Tuesday:
Spatchcocked chicken
Heart attack potatoes
broccoli
cauliflower
Pullman bread
Brownie Tuesdays

Wednesday:
Roast beef
rock potatoes
glazed carrots
peas (boring, but I don't know what to do with them)
Italian potato bread
Walnut meringue squares

Thursday:
Turkey
Sweet potatoes
spinach
creamed corn
Family Pleaser Light bread
Whatever cake strikes me

Friday:
Mini Penne in red sauce
Italian bread
Brownies

You are SO organized! I don't know what I'm serving sometimes 'til 30 minutes before.

Holy crap! That is a lot of work. My momma was so relieved when my human brother and sissy in law bought a house because now THEY do Thanksgiving and all she has to do is show up.

One menu is missing!

Second Saturday - Marjie will not be cooking, not anything, not ever on this day! The Nine Sproglets are required to and MUST feed their Mom - and be very Thankful for her love, care and cooking thoughout their lives so far.

If the prospect of this is too scary then, dear Marjie, you may run away for the day with your dear Beloved. Your Home surely has smoke alarms???

P.S. when you run away be sure to take darling Thor with you - the 3 family grownups escaping together!

I don't know what I'm going to have for lunch when I wake up! My planning skills run to "wingin'" it!

I remember how I enjoyed reading about your thanksgiving preperations last year, and I have been looking forward to this years! I am amazed how organized you are, but I guess it is a necessity when you run such a big household!

Ah... to be as organized as you! At the end of the day, I never know what I'm going to be eating until I sit down!

We're going away to the beach for Thanksgiving this year, (well, it's not celebrated here in Oz anyway) so I'm pretty sure some fresh from the ocean seafood (like in watching it brought in!!) will be on the cards!
Lobster and oysters... YUM!

(oh, and there's an award for you, over at my place. ;-)

Wow! That sounds great. All we had today was "refrigerator hunt." It was good, but,still....

Yeah! Holiday menu posting time at Marjie's! I was wide-eyed as I read all the baked bread and desserts for just one week! I bet you can't wait to have everyone under one roof again! And with this good food awaiting them, I bet they can't wait to arrive! For Monday (today), can I suggest your creamy lemon rice? Love it! :-)
